Functional sweetener:Edulcorant is kind of flavoring agent providing sweet taste to foods, while functional edulcorant is a food edulcorant with special physiological function or particular usage. It also means that, it can replace sugar to provide sweet taste in functional foods. It contains two meanings: one is the fundamental one, and it has no adverse effects of health, but can solve the problems induced by intake of sugar. Second, it has adjusting or promoting effects on human health. The edulcorants can be divided into functional glycose, functional oligosaccharide, multielement sugar alcohol and strong edulcorant.

CAS: 58―86―6

Properties: Colorless to white crystals or white crystalline powder, slightly special smell and tasty sweet. about 40% of the sweetness of sucrose. Relative density 1.525, melting point 114 ℃, was D―Light and variable optical activity. Soluble in water (125g/100ml) and hot ethanol, not soluble in ethanol and ether. can not be digested and used by human body .
