Chemical name: riboflavin Molecular Formula: C17H20N4O6 CAS: 83-88-5 Properties: yellow to orange yellow crystalline powder, slightly smelly and bitter. Melt and partially decompose at about 280℃. Neutral in saturated aqueous solution, pale yellow-green and have fluorescence. Free from the impact of scattered light in the dry state, but light can lead to its deterioration in the solution. Extremely stable under neutral or acidic solution, rapidly decompose in alkaline solution, break down quickly when exposed to light and form lumiflavin. More stable against oxidants and lose the color of yellow and fluorescent when exposed to reductants. Extremely difficult to dissolve in water, insoluble in ether and chloroform, but easily soluble in dilute alkali solution. It shows sinistrality in the sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, and shows dextroclination in the hydrochloric acid aqueous solution. Usage: nutritional supplement Application: used for fortified in health food.
