Properities: white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, sour. Getting yellowish color with a long time. gradually browning in sunlight, very stable in dry air, rapidly deteriorated in solution exposed to air, the optimum pH 3.4–4.5. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in chloroform or ether. Flash point is 99℃, and melting point is187℃–192℃. Because of its strong reduction and the effect of inhibiting polyphenol oxidase, it can be used as antioxidants when added to beer, fruit juice and other food.
Usage: nutritional supplements, anti-oxidants and color retention agent. It can control scurvy, alveolar pyorrhea, anemia and loss of appetite, and enhance resistance to infectious diseases.
Application: used in beer, fermented flour products, carbonated drinks, tea drinks, juice drinks, soy drinks, milk candy, canned fruit, jelly, broth, children's cereal, meat and baking products.
